| Date |
|
19th June 2012 – 19th June 2012 |
| Fund |
|
|
| Location |
|
Coventry Transport Museum, Coventry, CV1 1JD |
| Description |
|
How best can local authorities and stakeholders work together to achieve solutions for sustainable transport that are effective, long-lasting and appropriate for their local area?
The European project EU2020 Going Local considers just this. The project promotes a local governance model of climate change action in which communities and stakeholders play an active role in the development and implementation of policies, plans and projects. Good
practice approaches are identified from across Europe that partners can adopt in their own local strategies, contributing toward local and EU 2020 climate change objectives. The project aims to stimulate new initiatives in Energy and Sustainable Transport that have local value and could attract money from EU Structural and other funding programmes WMC is running this event as one of three on different sustainable energy themes. Each event will outline the case for taking a local approach within the West Midlands, exchange
practical good practice case studies relevant to the event theme and offer support on
funding opportunities. There will be chance to visit a real example within the City Centre
Delegates will learn of:
- Key Note: Central versus local action on climate change – making the distinction
- The EU2020 Going Local model and lessons
- Good practice from European partners & West Midlands’ local authorities
- EU funding opportunities, changes to Structural Funds and programmes 2014 - 2020
- EU funding surgery for individual guidance
EU2020 Going Local involves Stoke-on-Trent City Council as project partner
(www.eu2020goinglocal.eu), part-funded by ERDF through the INTERREG IVC programme
This event is free of charge and similar, tailored events are taking place on energy
efficiency (Birmingham, 29th May) and renewable energy (Hereford, 31st May) |
